Burro Canyon Event

I am putting together a shooting day Sunday, January 29th from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.  Range opens at 9am, but please get to the range by 8:30 to sign waivers and pay the $20/person range fee.

Please RSVP with total number of people you are bringing so I can estimate the space we have vs. number of people.  We are trying to keep the number of novice shooters to a minimum.  Also, if you are planning to invite others, please be sure to limit the people you’re inviting.  Unless you’ve directly invited the people attending, we will not be accepting other shooters.  I don’t want this to turn into 30 people at the event as it will be too crowded and we won’t get our range time.

I will keep everyone who RSVPs, updated on the happenings.  I will not be sending any additional emails after the invite has gone out.

If you have your own firearms please bring them.  If you do not own a firearm, there will be plenty there that people will allow you to shoot.  If you have your own firearms and are willing to let people share yours during this event, please let me know the caliber and ammo preference (FMJ required at Burro) so we can do the group purchase of ammo for those not bringing their own.

If you do not own your own firearm, please let me know so we can put you down on the group buy for ammo.  I will have to collect the money prior to the event as it’s not cheap.  We’ll need to purchase several types of ammo for the group.  If you want to join the ammo group buy, let me know.  If you do not plan on purchasing ammo in the group buy, chances are you won’t be able to shoot as ammo is very expensive these days.

We will have a full long gun riffle range (about 125 yards long).  You can bring your pistols, shotguns, ARs, etc.  Remember, it’s your responsibility to know what is legal to shoot in CA.  Rapid fire is allowed on the private range for semi-automatic firearms.

There is a shop on-site that sells water, soda, etc. but probably not the most economical.

Details/Information:

  • Sunday, January 29th from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.  Range opens at 9am, but please get to the range by 8:30 to sign waivers and pay the $20/person range fee.
  • Cost is $20 per person (non-shooters included) this is admission only and does not include ammo or firearm rental.- You will pay this on the day of the event.
  • Additional $20 if you are not bringing your own firearms/ammo.  This will help pay for the ammo and target supplies.  The ammo and targets will be divided up evenly (nobody’s making any money here.)  I am collecting this money now.
  • Bring your own Food/Drinks (Alcohol not allowed)
  • Bring your own ammo or purchase ammo at the shop onsite (Onsite ammo is more expensive)

Items the group will need during the day:
  • Easy-ups (For non-shooters and to prevent guns from heating up in direct sunlight)
  • Water (Bring lots of this as it’s not a quick walk to the store up in the mountains.
  • Paper targets
  • Clays
  • Bowling Pins
  • Target frames (If you don’t rent from the range)
  • Eye & Ear Protection (Prescription glasses or Sunglasses and ear plugs will work)

The range officer will come to the private range before we’re allowed to start shooting to inspect all ammo to ensure you do not have bi-metal or steel-jacketed with you.  If you do, they will confiscate it as it’s a fire hazard.  It’s possible that in January they will allow it as it may be considered a “Wet Season” month, but we won’t know until then.

If you need ammo and targets, please contact me ASAP so I can collect the money from you.  There’s a gun show this weekend, and I will likely go to get some of the supplies.  There’s another one in mid-December that I may go to if I don’t get everyone’s money this week.
